What is this blog about?
I made this blog to document my slow recovery from binge eating disorder (BED). It is my greatest hope that my personal experiences will help someone struggling with BED or educate someone who is unfamiliar with BED or life with an eating disorder. Along the way, I also share stories of my baking successes (and failures) as baking is (for better or for worse) my favourite hobby.
Who are you?
My name is Kristen and I am currently a law student in Canada. In addition to my passion for reading and writing, I absolutely love to bake sweet treats, which may seem like a major detriment to someone with BED. I admit that it can be some of the time (perfecting the 1-minute microwave mug brownie was a terrible achievement, recovery-wise) but baking is also a great way for me to divert my attention away from binging. The gratification I receive from sharing my baked goods with others often stops me from hoovering down the whole batch myself.
Why is your blog called “The Peanut Butter Jar”?
Peanut butter is my #1 favourite food. Unfortunately, that makes it my #1 trigger food. All of my efforts toward recovery are going towards a peanut butter jar – the day when peanut butter and I can have a normal relationship once more and live together happily ever after.
